The DARP Platform Education Series - “Fixing Healthcare”
The Dona Ana County Republican Party (“DARP”) is proud to announce its Platform Education Series.  DARP will attempt to host speaking events each month tailored to a specific theme related to the New Mexico Republican Party’s platform. DARP wants to reach out, educate, and energize all Republicans so we can affect our community for the better.

The theme for September is “Fixing Healthcare.”

Our platform states:

“Fix it, don’t federalize it!  We support accessible healthcare for all New Mexico citizens.  We encourage private sector solutions to healthcare concerns and the preservation of healthcare benefits for the elderly.”

Does the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (a.k.a “Obamacare”) reduce healthcare costs? Will Obamacare affect the doctor-patient relationship?  What are state-exchanges?  Why is the President selectively enforcing provisions of Obamacare?  Come find out! And check out the following link as a primer for the presentation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPxhbYUaT-s

Our guest speaker is New Mexico State Representative, Dr. Terry McMillan.

Dr. McMillan is a native New Mexican and has been practicing medicine in Las Cruces since 1993.  He is a board certified Otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat specialist), and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch.

Dr. McMillan is a fourth generation New Mexican, and grew up in rural De Baca County. He has served as President of the Medical Staff at Memorial Medical Center, Medical Director of the Mountainview Surgical Center, and Secretary of the Dona Ana County Medical Society.   You will also hear from local business owners and job creators on what they are doing to prepare for Obamacare.

So please make it a priority to attend and educate yourselves on how you can make an impact in the fight to fix healthcare right here in Dona Ana County!

Dr. McMillan will give his presentation Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at the Saratoga Room, located at 1763 E. University Ave. at 7:00 p.m. next to Lorenzo's.  For those that wish to talk with Dr. McMillan beforehand, dinner will be provided an hour before at 6:00 p.m.  The cost is $12.00.  A question and answer session will follow Dr. McMillan’s presentation. Please RSVP with Jayme Wallis at jaymewallis@hotmail.com or call her at 640-7223 by September 16, 2013.  For those not eating dinner, the presentation is free of charge to attend. We still ask that you RSVP and consider making a contribution of $5, $10, or $20 to help DARP continue to put on these important events.
